Pet Plan Insurance

Like microchipping your pet, Bayer believes that pet insurance is an important part of responsible pet ownership and gives you even more peace of mind for your pet. That's why Tracer microchips come with four weeks free Petplan insurance for dogs, cats and rabbits. Owners can then choose to turn their free cover into a full policy from Petplan to start once the free cover expires.

Frequently Asked Questions about the four weeks free cover that comes with the Tracer Advance microchip:

Why do we provide this?

Because 1 in 3 pets may require urgent veterinary treatment this year and you are more likely to claim on your pet insurance than on your car or household policies , Bayer recommends all owners take out pet insurance to help pay for unexpected veterinary bills. Petplan is the UK's No.1 pet insurance provider and has helped more British pet owners than anyone else care for their dogs cats and rabbits. Petplan has a range of policies to suit you and your pet - this includes ‘Covered for Life' options that'll help you look after them no matter how sick they get or how long they live.

How does it work?

Tracer Advance microchips come with four weeks free Petplan insurance. You are covered for injury as soon as your pet is chipped and for illness 14 days later. Approximately 10 days after having your cat, dog or rabbit microchipped ,you will receive your Petplan documentation in the post. If you don’t want this valuable protection to end, call Petplan on the number provided to take out a full policy.

What if I already have insurance with another provider?

This automatic cover does not affect any existing policy you may have with another provider.

What if I’m already insured with Petplan?

If you’re already a Petplan policyholder, you don’t need to worry – we won’t set up your free cover – you don’t need two Petplan policies!

I haven’t received my Petplan documentation in the post?

If your cover note documentation hasn’t arrived yet, the first thing to do is contact the person who implanted your pet’s microchip to ensure they have sent the registration form to Petlog. Petplan cannot process the free cover until the registration form has been received by Petlog.
